Meet Mel!

I’m the founder of A Mann’s World, an education policy blog dedicated to discussing important education topics.

I used to be a teacher.

I know, a lot of us used to be teachers. When I was a kid, that was the only job I ever wanted to do. After six years of teaching, I had to make a change. In 2022, I began a master’s program for Education Policy at Johns Hopkins University. In January of 2023, I quit teaching in the middle of the school year because my health was too terrible to continue. In August of 2024, I earned a Master’s of Science in Education Policy. It is my hope that I can use what I learned to draw attention to important issues and put pressure on policymakers to make decisions that serve students and teachers.

We’re crab people now.

I currently reside in Maryland and often pay a visit to Mr. and Professor Trash Wheel, who are performing miracles on the inner harbor. My three cats are both the greatest and most obnoxious coworkers, and they like to make appearances in my education policy videos.

All students deserve equity in opportunity, no matter their gender, race, gender identity, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation, education, disability, family income or other dimension of diversity.
